Well what would you expect from winter in the colonies? =)
I can't help it, I love snow! I was born in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico to be exact, (but raised in Texas!) and even though I love the sun and beach (Port Arthur, Galveston and Corpus Christi in Texas were some great summer faves!) I still am partial to snow! I've lived in Philadelphia, Denver, and Scott Air Force Base and I saw (and shoveled) a good bit of snow in those places so I'm not romanticising it here folks, but if you are ever able to sit out and just listen to snow falling, well it's just so peaceful! And as a side note, sitting in the middle of gridlock traffic on the highway during a snow storm is not what I mean when I mention snowfall and peaceful in the same sentence. (Just noting the differences there...) Not just that but it gives us a perfect excuse to be inside and soap all day! =)
So what will I do today? Well, my oldest has taekwondo practice so if the roads aren't rough, most of our morning will be taken up doing that. Later on I will experiment with a CP soap kit I purchased from Pine Meadows ( www.pinemeadows.net ) and post some pictures of what you get in the actual kit and such. I also have some pictures below of my recent order from Majestic Mountain Sage ( www.thesage.com ). I'll have to take pictures of the *actual* items that were in the boxes, but for now, this will do. It was like Christmas all over when the UPS man came to my house this week!
Two Boxes, smelling wonderfully, with the nice MMS packaging tape!
A sneak peek of all the goodies that were in this particular box!
I'm off to do morning chores (feed the dog, the kids, myself...). Have a great day and if it's snowing in your neck of the woods, be careful and enjoy!

Welcome to the colonies!
Welcome! These are the chronicles of The Virginia Colonies Soap Company, the home of artisan, hand made soap and other bath goodies! Since I live in the Commonwealth of Virginia (better known as Virginia), I figured that VCSC was a great name for my little soap company! Please follow along as I share the triumphs and defeats that occur while making soap from scratch and while we're at it, you'll even learn a little bit of commonwealth history!
